Restaurant: China One
Location: Temecula Parkway in the Home Depot shopping center
Food: Asian style
Rating: 2 out of 5 stars

To tell you the truth the only reason I set foot into this establishment is because it is one of the few mom and pop Asian style restaurants in Temecula that I have not yet been to. That and I had a craving for something stir fried in a wok full of veggies and peppers. Upon entering the building the very first thing I noticed was how dead it was inside. The only two people even eating the food were the employees that were on their lunch. This was not a good sign, but as my mother said always judge a book by its cover. As a person who never listened to his mother growing up I approached the counter and began scouring the menu. At first glance I immediately noticed the very steep prices for a single entree. Most meals were about 9 to 10 dollars. Upon inspection the two meals that stood out to a white college student living in a suburban area was the orange chicken and the spicy garlic chicken. Feeling a little fiery I went for the spicy garlic chicken.

After a short 5 minute wait my food was ready to take home. As I unearthed the spicy goodness I found that the portion size was HUGE. I walked in their primarily for lunch, little did I know that I would also be taking home dinner. As I mixed my rice and mouthwatering garlic chicken together I took my first bite. The flavor of the spices was very powerful. I found traces of jalapeno, chili peppers, and siracha in almost every bite. What did disappoint me about this dish was the garlic flavor. For the life of me I couldn't find a single hint of garlic. It was between the absence of garlic and the mushyness of the veggies that really lowered my take on the food. On the plus side however the chicken was very flavorful and had such a nice kick from all the spices. I would eat their again, but maybe next time just stick with the orange chicken.
